No heavier grid connection needed thanks to 1.2 MWh of storage
A cold store with 650 kWp of solar was running into its contracted capacity. A battery shaves the peaks and earns on the market.

The challenge
The distribution centre wanted to charge electric trucks, but at peak times it was already close to the 800 kW of its connection. A heavier connection had a waiting time of years in the region.
Approach
- 1
Analysed twelve months of quarter-hour data: the peaks rarely lasted longer than 45 minutes.
- 2
Worked out two scenarios: peak shaving only, and peak shaving with day-ahead and imbalance trading.
- 3
Installed a 1,200 kWh / 600 kW battery; the EMS partner controls it within the limits of the connection.
Result
Since commissioning, import has stayed below 700 kW, apart from one maintenance day. The benefit is above the base scenario of the business case; the client follows it month by month in the portal.
