How to read your quarter-hour data

96 values a day tell you more about your business than an annual bill. What should you look for?

SVSanne de Vries · 5 min read

Your meter records every quarter-hour how much electricity you import and export. Together, those values form the profile of your business: when you operate, when it is quiet and where the peaks are.

Three things to look at first

  • The night-time base load: what runs when nobody is working?
  • The morning start-up: how high is the peak when everything switches on at once?
  • The weekend: is consumption really lower?

Example day: consumption and generation

kW, quarter-hourly · Thu 17 Sept

Consumption
11.7 MWh

Grid import
9.6 MWh
↑ import, discharging · ↓ charging, export
